Tomorrow is the 28th April 2019 - a day each year that we remember those who have died whilst at work due to accidents which could have so easily been avoided had their employer followed health and safety legislation.
Then there are those not counted in any official figures - killed whilst driving for or to work - and those who have passed away in air travel incidents whilst travelling as part of their work - again not counted in any official figures.
Today, the first of the day's International Workers Memorial Day annual events is taking place at Harris Museum & Art Gallery in Preston, despite the dismal weather.
Janet Newsham from Greater Manchester Hazards said on her Twitter account:
"Preston International Workers Memorial Day - just setting up and a woman came up to me to thank me!
The flowers have arrived for our IWMD19 event in Preston city centre made lovingly to pay a fitting tribute to all those tragically killed at work.
We have met every year since the tragic cockle pickers disaster in 2005. Today and every year we remember all those who have died at work in the NW & around the world. No one should die, be injured or made ill by work.
Remember the dead fight for the living!"
